Workshops

For City of Craft 2008, we are pleased to offer free workshops all day. These workshops are open to the public and are presented in conjunction with local businesses and artisans.

All workshops are in the Craft Lab (Upstairs at the Theatre Cantre) and have been graciously programmed by our workshop mistress, Angelune Des Lauriers.

Origami Star Book*
by The Paper Place
12:30 pm

This unusual little booklet is the perfect housing for a special letter, poem or anything that requires some dressing up!  We will be using our beautiful stencil dyed katazome-shi papers to make the covers and will be learning a variation that turns this little wonder into an ornament.  Once you learn this simple technique you can make this book in any size with any number of signatures.

*This workshop is limited to 15 participants and will be dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis.

Make a sweet set of four fabric-covered magnets with the workroom, using leftover scraps of fabric. A simple, thrifty, yet useful gift that is easy to make for all ages and skills. Each magnet set will be housed in a custom laser-cut card with a holiday message, ready for giving.
