Northern Beaver Gallery Vending Machines
A gallery inside two “ready-made” by Beaver Machine Corporation

Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
(or while supllies last)
At The Theatre Centre
(upper Mezzanine)
1087 Queen Street West
Toronto

The vending machines hold art small art in small editions by Holly Wheatcroft and Rebecca Houston, all made exclusively for Northern Beaver.

Make Your Own Magic!
Holly Wheatcroft offers us the pleasure of a mini magic wand that you can assemble yourself, reminding you that, using the great power of creativity, magic is available to you everyday. Wheatcrof’s sculptures feature painted abstract wooden shapes suspended on steel supports. The shapes can move and show different sides. She is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada and Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts.

The Owl’s Arcana Rebecca
Houston is an emerging artist (and owner of the Northern Beaver Gallery) who uses playful motifs in her work. Interactive puppets, toy figures, and candy are all common in her installations. In The Owl’s Arcana, a small Saw-Whet owl observes us in our habitat (itelf, from inside a vending machine), turning its head slowly at the viewer's command to take in the scene. This edition features clay canoes, paddles and acorns that hold messages from the Owl.

Check the blog at www.artvendu.com to see upcoming exhibitions.

Is it an installation or a rip-roaring wild midway game? The truth is that this beautifully constructed ball game of chance lies somewhere in between. Not only is it lovely, but it is also your gateway to a veritable panopoly of handmade prizes. Two tries for $5, and it's fun just to play!
(Every play is a winner, please do not blame us for its addictive nature).

Pencil Skirts and Crayon Pants
by WORN fashion Journal

Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
At The Theatre Centre
(upper Mezzanine)
1087 Queen Street West
Toronto

The moments that define us, more often than not, take place while we’re wearing clothes. Sometimes we look back at our milestone outfits and wonder if we would have been more fashionable naked. WORN invites you to reminisce about the fashion triumphs and style-tastophes of days gone by. This year, at City of Craft, we’ll provide the paper and drawing supplies necessary for you to transform your sartorial history into Art.

You just have to show up wearing clothes.

WORN Fashion Journal discusses the cultures, subcultures, histories, and personal stories of fashion. We put out a print publication twice a year, as well as events, lectures and craft nights around Toronto and Montreal. WORN likes how you wear your clothes, you’ve been doing it for a long time now, you’re pretty good at it.

Photo Booth

Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
At Thrush Holmes Empire
1093 Queen Street West
Toronto

Join stylist/crafter, Samantha Dubeau and Photographer Scarlett O'Neill for two full days of free photobooth action, complete with handmade props from Have & Hold Design. Digital photos will be available after the show for online download and the booth will be styled by hand for maximum joy!

Samantha graduated from the York/Sheridan Joint Program in Design, and currently lives in Toronto working as a freelance stationery designer and crafter. A year after graduating, she created Have & Hold Design, which focuses on the custom design of print material for weddings and other special events. She is inspired by anything with texture and gets a thrill out of mixing unexpected materials and techniques in her work. Her work has been featured on many popular design and craft blogs such as DesignWorkLife, Creature Comforts, Ohdeedoh and Lotti Loves, as well as published in Verso Magazine.

Scarlet O'Neill started her career at the very young age of 15, assisting a NYtime photographer in Detroit. It didn't take long before she knew this was the career that would make her the happiest and thus ventured on that path. Her main focus is weddings, engagements, boudoir, portraits & all things people, love & life. She has since been featured in different Toronto based blogs, the Toronto Star, Now Magazine, Breakfast Television & she has recently had her images appear in a new children's book.  She finds inspiration in those around her & loves telling people stories through her images.

Roses and Delphiniums
a new textile work by Grant Heaps

Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
At The Theatre Centre
(hanging over the risers)
1087 Queen Street West
Toronto

To be honest, even we do not know exactly what this piece is going to be. City of Craft has given local textile artist, Grant Heaps, the opportunity to make whatever he wants and display it over the weekend. All we know is that this piece is large, is made of fabric and will be hanging over the risers. It will also doubtlessly embodi Grant's inimitable and singula style.

Saturday 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm
At The Theatre Centre
(downstairs broom closet)

An micro environment of glass, metal, light and sound.

"The inspiration for this work comes from the realization of the senseless destruction of our living environment. While the inhabitants of planet Earth seem to be moving on a path of no return in this regard, we want to create a space for thoughtful contemplation of a place or moment that will hopefully serve as something other than mere nostalgia."

Wonderlandish sneak peeks & experimentations are blogged daily at  www.nanopod.me
