What is City of Craft?
City of Craft is a collective of craft-engaged arts organizers who aim to build community in the Toronto craftscape, support independent artists and craftspeople, and encourage the larger community to get involved with crafty happenings in the city. We organize Toronto's largest independently-run, juried craft show each December featuring craft-based installations and free workshops, attracting approximately 4,000 attendees. With our inspiring year-long installation series and magical three-day festival, we hope to strengthen the relationship between the studio craft and DIY/indie-craft community, as well as increase the city's access to - and appreciation for - contemporary craft.

When is City of Craft 2017?
City of Craft takes place on the second weekend of December (the 9th and 10th), with an opening party on the evening of Friday, December 8th.  The $3 admission fee allows you access to the show for the entire duration. City of Craft is free to attend for children under 12. The hours of the show are 6pm-10pm on Friday, and 11am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Where is the event taking place?
City of Craft is partnered with The Theatre Centre at 1115 Queen St. West (at Lisgar).  Housed in the former Carnegie Library (a heritage property built in 1909), The Theatre Centre is a live arts hub and incubator featuring two fully-accessible floors, a green roof patio, and delightful cafe that allows vistors to sip and nibble and chill out over the course of the show.

How many participants are there at your shows?
Between vendors, installation artists, workshop leaders, and neighbourhood partners we have over 70 organizations, artists and individuals participating in City of Craft. For actual tabelling vendors, the Winter show has settled into 55-60 a year (depending on table size and allocation).

How many years has City of Craft been happening?
City of Craft has been running since 2007. This is our ELEVENTH YEAR!

How do I apply?
Applications are done exclusively online. The deadline to apply for our Winter 2017 show has passed, and we cannot consider applications after the August 31st deadlines. We are currently not accepting new vendors.

How are participants selected?
City of Craft is a curated event, juried by City of Craft core organizers and an invited panel of guest jurors with seasoned backgrounds in the craft and DIY communities.
